What is the 21 Entry Age Ordinance Proposal?
On the November 6 City Election, there will be a ballot issue on the ballot.
The ballot issue will read:
“Whereas, it is in the public interest to provide, unless otherwise exempted by law or ordinance, that a person shall have attained legal age (currently 21 years of age or more) to lawfully be on the premises between the hours of 10:00 p.m. to closing of any Iowa City establishment holding a liquor control license, a wine or beer permit, that authorizes on premises consumption.”
It simple…
If you want the bars to go 21 Only, you vote yes
If you want the bars to remain the same and allow underage in, you vote NO
After the votes are tallied on November 6, if the ballot passes, all restaurants and clubs will immediately become 21 Only! There will be no grandfathering in & no exemptions for weekends! You may, but do not have to vote on anything else on the ballot. If you do not get out and vote NO, this will become law on Nov. 6. That’s it!
What you need to do!
